Microsoft took the stage to announce Assassin’s Creed Origins by Ubisoft, set to release October 27th, 2017 on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
In the game, you play a Bayek, an Egyptian “sheriff” who’s on a journey through the corruption in ancient Egypt that leads him to form the Assasin Brotherhood, which we’ve had the pleasure of meeting in previous Assasin Creed games.
You can tell from the trailer that Ubisoft took both it’s time and money and put it into Assasin’s Creed Origins. The game looked gorgeous in 4k playing on the new Xbox One X.
Take aways from the trailer include the mid-air, slow motion bow and arrow snipe that looks like it’s straight out of the new Wonder Woman (which I watched yesterday). Another note was the seemingly new combat system which looks very Witcher 3 or Dark Souls-esque, fluid in allowing you fight multiple enemies a lot easier.
Now did this trailer really excite me? Not particularly. Gameplay wise, it looks more of the same but the prospect of scaling Egypt as my playground has me excited.
Admittedly, I had grown tired of Assasins Creed games and I don’t think I was alone in that. Ezio was cool and I loved Black Flag but the franchise had me exhausted. Ubisoft recently did the unthinkable and took a year off from releasing its annual installment into the Assasins Creed franchise and it looks like they made the right decision.
