Its that time again, a new month a new set of Games With Gold. The 4 titles we have available for download are Battlefield 1, Race the Sun, Assassins Creed, and Dante’s Inferno. Four great titles and one i’ve never heard of. Let’s get this show on the road.
Just in time for the release of Battlefield V, on November 20th, we have Battlefield 1; available for download, on Xbox One, starting today and running until the end of the month. As someone who spent hundreds of hours playing BF3 and BF4, I was initially excited for a change of pace. After playing the game for some time I realised that I was not suited for combat in the the great war I was disappointed that so much had change. This was the first Battlefield game that had me enjoying the single-player story-mode more than the multiplayer. The single-player is split up into several different mini stories; each one following the path of a unique character and telling their story of what they experienced during the war. With several post-launch updates and DLC I’m sure the multiplayer aspect has gotten better as well. I will more than likely redownload Battlefield 1 in anticipation for the next installment.
Next up for the Xbox One we have Race the Sun; available for download starting on the 16th and ending on the 30th. This is the only game on the list I have not played before. From what I can tell, you are a solar-power ship of some kind, that dies as soon as it’s night time. The game itself seems to be a race against time with the finish line being the sunset. I may install this game to kill some extra time in between the massive releases throughout the remainder of the year.
For the first half of November all Xbox owners can download the first installment of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Originally released 11 years ago this month Assassin’s Creed tells the story of Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad. Up until this year this was my favorite game in the series. Fair warning: if you’re enjoying the fast-paced gameplay of the newer installments you may not like this one. It’s much slower and get very repetitive after the first few assassinations. However the story is still well worth playing through. I will more than like skip out of this one because I have no desire to replay it.
Finally we come to Dante’s Inferno available from the 16th until the end of the month. For those unaware
this game is a very loose adaptation of Dante’s Divine Comedy. This is just an all around fun game to play, with gameplay mechanics similar to that of the older God of War games. The player must descend the levels of hell in search of his wife. I wish this game would have received a sequel or at the very least a remaster. With EA (cowards) shutting down Visceral games I don’t see that happening anytime soon.
Overall this was probably the best Games with Gold lineup we’ve received in quite some time. I am relatively excited to play at least a few of these titles. What games would like to appear on next month’s Games with Gold?
