While Final Fantasy 7 Remake may have stolen the hearts of everyone at the Square Enix Conference, Kingdom Hearts III revealed its first teaser for it’s DLC, titled Re:Mind, coming out this winter. While the trailer was short, It gave us a lot to look forward to.
The Trailer begins with a look at Young Xehanort speaking with The Master of Masters. Intrestrestly, this version of Xehanort has grey eyes, rather than the gold eyes that we are used to seeing him with. Director and Character artist at Square Enix Tetsuya Nomura confirmed in an Interview with Famitsu that all of the content in the trailer is based on an additional scenario, with no content from the Limit Cut Episode being shown.
Young Xehanort is seen talking to what we can assume is The Master of Masters from Kingdom Hearts X(key) back cover, saying after visiting all the worlds that he realizes how necessary he is. This means that we will probably dive deep into the connections between Xehanort and The Master of Masters in Kingdom Hearts III Re:Mind. Could this mean that The Master of Masters was the teacher of Xehanort and Eriquas? Did The Master of Masters want to possess one of them?
We then get shown footage from this alternate scenario, featuring a playable Riku, Aqua and Roxas. 2 of these characters were playable beforehand (Riku in the Dark World, Aqua in the Land of departure), while Roxas was not. The bosses also seem to be handled a bit differently, with Roxas fighting Saix in Place of Sora (Axel also joins the festivities), while Aqua and Ventus are fighting the possessed Terra and Vanitus alone. We also see Sora’s new Oathkeeper form, and certain items in the game do hint at Oblivion coming soon as well. Oathkeeper is free for all users, meaning that everyone will be able to experience this keyblade and form.
The trailer then goes into what a scene with Xigbar, with Luxlord asking who he is, then walking away saying that he “keeps playing dumb”. The trailer ends with Xigbar asking who Luxlord really is. Luxlord was one of the people that was said to have a past legacy of the KeyBlade within him, so it will be interesting to find out what happens there.
Nomura seems ready to take us on another wild ride with the post-game of Kingdom Hearts 3. I think it will be interesting to see what the fans make of what is widely seen as a final mix DLC pack.
