Content Warning – This article will contain spoilers from Kingdom Hearts games other than 1 & 2 and I will be referencing critical storylines from most if not all games in the series so far.
The wait is almost over, the finish line is in sight, and next week I dare say millions of people will begin their journey toward the end of the Dark Seeker saga, in the hopes of defeating Xehanort once & for all, and restoring light to the worlds.
The journey which started all the way back in March of 2002, which has seen us laugh, cry, meet & fall in love with so many wonderfully written characters, (looking at you Lea) will come to a close this coming Tuesday with the release of Kingdom Hearts 3.
We began with the story of Sora trying to find his two lost friends but with games such as Chain of Memories, 358/2 & Birth by Sleep, we’ve been introduced to more characters, more timelines and more stories that we’re dying to see the outcomes of. With the myriad of trailers we’ve had drip fed to us over the years ever since the initial game reveal at the Sony conference back at E3 2013, I think it’s safe to say we’re more than ready.
We’re all looking forward to and anticipating different things, but one thing I’m sure we can agree on is closure. Whether you’re team Destiny Island, Team Twilight Town, Team Disney or Team Aquaventerra, we’re all looking for closure. There are so many storylines that have left things unanswered, so many loved characters we think are lost. Will Terra regain his heart? Will Aqua return from Darkness, can Sora return Roxas & Xion? And what about poor Naminé? Will we see the ultimate reunion and the final showdown of the Seven versus the Thirteen? I mean personally I’m in giddy teenage girl mode desperately awaiting seeing Lea running around with his new Keyblade ready to kick Organization butt, but hey, that’s just me!
