Warner Brothers showed off a new gameplay and gameplay trailer for Middle Earth: Shadow of War focusing on showing off its monsters. You can see the new trailer below.
Shadow of War gameplay trailer
The trailer begins with the summoning of the Balrog, one of the most powerful beings in the Lord of the Rings Universe. From what the trailer shows off, it looks like taking down the Balrog will be the main objective of Talion and Celembrimbor.
The trailer quickly moves on to show off dragons, spiders and some great new looking creatures you’ll get to take down in the new game. It also looks like you’ll make new allies, mainly a forest spirit that looks to give you new powers and the ability to control forest-made creatures. This will definitely help when taking on the Balrog.
Something that stuck out to me in the trailer was the different environments you’ll get to explore. From snowy peaks to lush forests, it looks like Shadow of War will take you to many different lands to meet all these new characters and monsters.
The game definitely looks a lot more action packed. Not to say Shadow of Mordor wasn’t, but the sequel certainly looks meatier than the first. It definitely has one thing the first game didn’t have: YOU GET TO RIDE FRIGGIN DRAGONS.
Additionally, we got an extra 25 minutes of gameplay.
The gameplay shows off the always awesome Warner Brothers Games combat. The combat is similar to Arkham Asylum games and from personal experience, the farther you get in the game, the more of an Orc-killing god you feel like.
Another thing that really stands out is the look of the Orcs is a lot more diverse. From small to big to huge Orcs with all different facial figures and expressions, you certainly get a lot more personality than the original game. (Note: there was still a ton of personality from each Orc in the first game, and you can tell Warner Brothers doubled down on that to add even more.)
You’ll be able to play Middle Earth: Shadow of War when it releases October 10th, 2017.
