After many rumors, after three months of waiting since E3, Nintendo fans were finally treated to a Nintendo Direct presentation. Announcements for this Direct included games expected out before the end of 2019 and some games scheduled to release in 2020. It was an amazing Direct, full of enough games to keep Nintendo satisfied until the new year. If you unfortunately missed the direct, we here at Game Savvy have you covered. Below is every announcement made during September 4th’s Nintendo Direct.
Overwatch Coming To Nintendo Switch
Overwatch arrives on the Switch on October 15th, 2019, with added gyro controls allowing players to tilt their console or pro controller to aim with McCree, pilot D.Va, or deflect projectiles with Genji.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 Gameplay
Nintendo showed off more Luigi’s Mansion 3 gameplay featuring the various floors of the hotel, each equipped with its own theme. The floors shown include the Mezzanine (dining area), Castle MacFrights (medieval theme), Garden Suites (spooky garden), Tomb Suites (pyramids), Dance Hall (disco theme), Spectral Catch (pirate-themed restaurant)
Nintendo also showed off a new mode in Luigi’s Mansion 3: Scream Park. In Scream Park up to eight players can join either the Luigi or Gooigi team and battle it out defeating ghosts, collecting coins, and breaking targets.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 releases worldwide October 31, 2019.
Super Kirby Clash Launched
Super Kirby Clash, a free to start Kirby game, has over 100 quests for players to take part in. Player team up with up to three friends via one system, local wireless, or online to battle it out with various bosses throughout the Kirby series.
Super Kirby Clash is available now, and again it is free to start.
Trials Of Mana Remake Release Date
The Trials of Mana Remake, the third game of the Mana series, will release on Switch April 24, 2020.
Return Of The Obra Dinn
Return of the Obra Dinn, a port of the Steam game, will release later this fall. Return of Obra Jinn with its unique art style won best art direct at 2018’s The Game Awards and will have players trying to solve the mysterious disappearance of the Obra Jinn by rewinding time to discover clues.
Little Town Hero Release Date & Footage
Little Town Hero, the new IP created by Gamefreak, releases October 16, 2019. The footage was shown during the direct further revealed that it is an SRPG that will have players battling monsters using various ideas collected throughout the game. The music in the game was created by Undertale composer Toby Fox.
New Challengers Approach In Smash Ultimate
A welcomed surprise for Smash Bros fans happened when it was revealed that Banjo & Kazooie would be releasing on September 4th, the same day as the Direct!
And if that wasn’t enough, it was also announced that the production of DLC fighters for Smash Bros Ultimate would not end after the fifth DLC fighter. More fighters are in development, further cementing Sakurai as a legend.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions Remaster Announced
A remaster of the Wii U game Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore will release January 17, 2020 and will include new story elements and new playable characters.
Deadly Premonition 2 Announced
Deadly Premonition 2 was announced for Switch with a 2020 release window. The first game in the series, Deadly Premonition Origins was also live dropped and is available now on the eshop.
Link’s Awakening Gets Some Love
Link’s Awakening releases in a little over two weeks, and surely enough Nintendo showed a hype video concerning everything the game has to offer. Characters from other Nintendo franchises, amiibo functionality, and an art style to make your mouth water, what more could we ask for?
Divinity 2: Original Sin Announced For Switch
A port of Divinity 2: Original Sin for the Switch was announced, and will allow for cross saves with the Steam version of the game. The game is available now.
Doom 64 Coming To Switch
Pete Hines graced the Direct by announcing that for the first time since its release on Nintendo 64, Doom 64 will be available on the console. Doom 64 releases for the Nintendo Switch on November 22nd, 2019.
Rogue Company Announced New IP
Rogue Company, a new IP from High Res Studios, where players will play as an elite specialist against an evil organization known as Jackal. The game will feature online coop and will be available next year.
More Shown Off For Pokemon Sword and Shield
We were treated to more features available in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield including greater character customization, Pokemon Camp, Curry on Rice (where you will cook over a hundred different types of curry), and two new Pokemon (Polteageist and Cramorant).
SNES Games Finally Available On Nintendo Switch Online
At long last SNES games are available to play via Nintendo Switch Online. The list of available games are listed below. There is also an exclusive Super Nintendo Switch controller available for Nintendo Switch Online Members for $29.99.
The SNES games coming to Switch include: Super Mario Kart, Kirby’s Dream Course, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island, F-Zero, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario World, Star Fox, Stunt Race FX, Super Metroid, Kirby’s Dream Land 3, Pilotwings, Super Soccer, Super Tennis, Brawl Brothers, Demon’s Crest, Joe & Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics, Super E.D.F. Earth Defense Force, Super Puyo Puyo 2, Breath of Fire and Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts.
Tetris 99 Gets A Free Update
Tetris 99 received a free update, Tetris Invictus, which places the best of the best Tetris players against each other. A physical version of the game, including the game, DLC, and a one-year Switch online membership will be available on September 6th, 2019.
Mario and Sonic At The Olympic Games Gets A Release Date
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games will release on November 5th, 2019 and features new games, a 2D battle mode, as well as a story mode.
Daemon X Machina Prologuq Demo Announced
A Daemon X Machina prologue demo was announced ahead of its September 13th release, the full game supporting online play.
Jedi Outcast is coming to Nintendo Switch
The full single-player experience of Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast will be available September 24th.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Arriving With DLC
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition, including all available DLC will release for Switch on October 15th.
Assasin’s Creed Coming To Nintendo Switch
The rumored Assassins Creed Rebel Collection (Black Flag and Rogue) releases December 6th, 2019.
Dauntless Coming To Nintendo Switch
Dauntless, the popular online multiplayer game will be released for Switch sometime before the end of the year.
