Ubisoft took the stage at E3 to officially introduce Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and a friendly partnership with Nintendo. The legendary
The legendary Miyamoto took to the stage to introduce Mario + Rabbids, kingdom battle. It’s an adventure/strategy game that see’s Mario create unlikely friends with a couple of Rabbids as they look to save the Mario Kingdom. When the partnership first began, Miyamoto urged Ubisoft to not make a Mario jump game, but rather a Mario game that has never been done before.
We got a look at some Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle gameplay. At first, it was a little underwhelming. There was certainly a lot of walking and it didn’t look like open world walking but rather in guided directions. The world they’ve created was big, colorful mushroom kingdom where you get to explore forested areas and desert lands. But once the combat started, the game got very interesting.
We got to see a battle with Mario and his two Rabbid friends (comically dressed up like Peach and Luigi) team up against some evil Rabbids. The combat is turned based and tactical, much like a Final Fantasy Tactics game, where you have a set amount of squares you can move through with each character helping each other in some way. Some have defensive moves and other have offensive moves.
I’m really into the tactical adventure game they’ve developed and their version of the Mushroom Kingdom they’ve developed. The enemy types look really cool, from big to small Rabbids all with their own personality. There was even a giant Rabbid wearing a DK tie! No word on whether Bowser or any other classic Mario enemies are in the game but we did get cameos from Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi and Toad who look like they’ll be playable characters. The game looks to have an awesome sense of humour and looking forward to seeing more of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.
